Boro: Dutch international striker on the cards?

Middlesbrough are interested in a move for Dutch international winger/striker Romeo Castelen from Dutch outfit Feyenoord.

According to the Middlesbrough Evening Gazette, Boro manager Gareth Southgate is interested in the player but won’t spend the 6m pounds that Feyenoord are asking for the 24 year old.

Castelen is linked with a number of clubs including Torino, Paris St Germain and Parma. He has reached 10 caps for Holland so far in his career. He was a target of Manchester City last season.

Injury kept him out of the World Cup Finals last summer, but Castelan is a very talented player and would bring a lot of excitement to the club. He was a member of the side that lifted the European under-21 title.

Suriname born Castelan started his career as a right winger but he's now playing as a striker. He’s been more effective for Feyenoord in this role and has impressed many clubs with his searing pace. Think of him as a poor man’s Obafemi Martins.
