60 goals in 74 games: good enough for Man U (video clip)
Manchester United have reportedly been inquiring about Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov, but the Bulgarian won’t be leaving White Hart Lane. Alex Ferguson will now concentrate his attention on signing Dutch international Klaas Jan Huntelaar from Ajax Amsterdam who has scored a whopping 60 goals in 74 games at the club.
Not only is Huntelaar prolific, but in Europe he’s scored nine goals in the teams nine Champions League and UEFA Cup matches this season.
While not especially quick or tricky, Huntelaar has incredible timing, is deadly accurate and great in the air as you can see from the video below. He joined Ajax 2 seasons ago from Eredivisie club Heerenveen where he was almost as prolific by scoring 17 in 34 matches. He had a run of 15 in 17 matches which caused Ajax to splurge for a January transfer.
At the moment, Huntelaar is rated in the range of 9m pounds. He’s well suited for the Premiership although comments from his management claim he’d like another season in a lower division. Money, though, can change any player’s mind.

plays just like Solskjaer
sh!t player - that's why United want him. Utd not big enough for Berbatov
look, jealous little cowboy Spur
not big enough for berbatov... pffff
wtf timmy tooshooz? :) - Hate to admit it (being a Spurs fan myself) but you are talking nonsense. Manure are one of, if not the biggest club in the world (as much as I hate that fact). As such they are big enough for any player on the planet even our illustrious Berbatov! Champions League qualification has never been more important for us.
archibaldsteve: Huntelaar I've admired since first seeing him on Eurosport 3 years ago playing for Heerenveen. I gave up on Tottenham ever signing him as Jol must have known about him being Dutch but has never expressed an interest in the player. I would love us to sign him. Him and M. Zidan are 2 best young front players to emerge in recent times. When I hear that Spurs may shell out around £10 million for D. Bent then I'm perplexed as we could get Huntelaar for that or maybe a little more.
Wayne - do you want to shove your nose any further up Man U's @rse? I think Timmy's tongue was in his cheek when he posted the above comment...
Love of god, some people...
I dont think if berbatov left spurs he'd go to united. I think he'd hold out for a milan or a madrid or barca.
Imagine him and kaka!!
imagine him with deco messi and ronaldinho!!
archibaldsteve: Nani and Anderson to go to United. On BBC website and ceefax. Come on Spurs lets have Huntelaar.
No doubt bright young talent since i first saw heard of him couple of years ago.....but dont know if its the defence thats that bad or he's that good, too much space on every goal or maybe he just knows how to get into that space......
OK, now manU moved onto tevez, time for villar to DEW DIS. I think we can take care of Florentina :)
what's the price tag? 15 mil euro or something? shit, 20 million euro for Huntelaar would still be a killer deal!
Fernando Alfonso needs to dish out the money he made from the Forlan sale and get this done.
