Heinze travels to Madrid for talks

It appears that Real Madrid are preparing an approach for Manchester United full-back Gabriel Heinze. Heinze has stated his intention to leave Old Trafford for a new club was in Madrid over the weekend to hash out a move, even going as far as attending a Madrid game.

Real Madrid are looking to replace Roberto Carlos who at 34 has announced he will be leaving Madrid at the end of the campaign. I don’t understand why Madrid want to replace a 34 year old with a 29 year old when there are younger players in better form out there. I don’t know about you, but I found Heinze’s performances this season less than convincing. He looked older by the game.

Should Henize go, the place is now Frenchman Patrice Evra’s who has been in good form all season after a very rocky start at United. He looks nothing like the shaky, nervous and pensive player when he arrived.

For United, I’d say let him go. Heinze’s best years are over.
