Cheapski Chelsea grab a freebie

Peruvian international Claudio Pizzaro is out of contract with the Bayern Munich has signed for Chelsea on a free transfer making this the second free transfer in 2 seasons from Bayern after Michael Ballack joined last year. That makes 2 free transfers since season’s end as Reading midfielder Steve Sidwell has also joined the club. It would be 3, as the transfer fee for Alex from PSV Eindhoven not been 1 dollar.

Chelsea’s latest signing appears to further confirm the new transfer philosophy at Stamford Bridge.

Pizarro, 28, scored 97 goals in 229 games for Munich and has held talks recently with Chelsea, Juventus and Wolfsburg. Last season he wanted a move to England. He’s a good player and a decent signing, no more than cover though. It’s a blockbuster deal but he’s big and strong, very direct and left footed. He had a bad season at Bayern being preferred to Roque Santa Cruz who scored exactly 0 goals in 22 games. No wonder he wanted to leave.

Great work if you can get it.Your never going to push Drogba from the starting line up, so why not warm the bench for a couple of years on 80k per week and then get flogged to Athletico Alsorans. Why are'nt Bayern concerned about keeping hold of him? Work it out!
