Rio Ferdinand finally signs

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has finally signed a new contract with Manchester United. The long, long, long running saga has finally ended in a four year deal.

The transfer speculation reached a pitch over the weekend as newspaper reports were claiming Ferdinand would be left off the teams first Champions League fixture.

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has been exerting a lot of pressure on the player, who, in reality was being offered a ton of money, Glaze-ball or not.

The England international defender’s future is secure at Old Trafford until 2009, how long it takes for the fans to forgive him is another story.
