Figo finally shows his cards

Real Madrid midfielder Luis Figo flies to Milan tomorrow to finalize negotiations with his new club, Italian giants Inter Milan. The Spanish media have reported a 2 year contract.

Liverpool failed in negotiations after a Madrid shakedown in which a sum was demanded after Figo was told he could leave for free.

Given a clean medical, Luis Figo will join other 3 Real Madrid players in Italy. This deal follows closely on the heels of Walter Samuel.

Figo, a World and European Player of the Year will surely get the first team football he deserves at Inter, albeit I was pulling for Arsenal or Liverpool to succeed. This ends Figo’s run in Spain which started with Barcelona and ends now with Madrid. He’ll do well anywhere he goes and Madrid will miss him, regardless of their coach.
