Nonda making 2nd transfer of summer
New Roma striker Shabani Nonda is preparing for his second transfer of the summer as Roma’s transfer ban has made his Italian move short lived.
Roma received a year long transfer ban which includes players purchased during this summers transfer window, Nonda joined in May. It looks more or less hopeless for Roma who have already lost an appeal.
In fact the four players that joined Roma since the transfer window opened (Nonda, Samuel Kuffour from Bayern Munich, Rodrigo Taddei from Siena and Cesare Bovo of Parma) will be sent back to their original clubs.
Nonda, a Congo international was seen in Nice, France last week with negotiators from Portuguese champions Benfica. He lived thru a pair of injury riddled seasons with Monaco and moved to Roma in an environment where many clubs doubted his fitness. He’s likely to face the same scrutiny and Benfica may provide an easy escape.
