Real Madrid shipwreck

Brazilian Wanderley Luxemburgo will be fired as coach of Real Madrid soon. That’s my prediction.

Over the summer he has managed to anger quite a few Madrid players with a domineering coaching style and tendency to humiliate them.

Luxemburgo simply makes no sense. He and the club told Figo to find another club, so Figo has done that with Liverpool. Look at this quote:

"Owen and Figo have contracts and should be here. Whether they are going to play or not is a different story but they are Real Madrid players" -Luxemburgo

First he gave the go ahead for Luis Figo to look for a new club and now that Figo has come to terms with Liverpool, he is expected at training with Madrid (ever since Real Madrid have flip-flopped and asked for a fee for Figo)? That’s nuts.

Michael Owen, a former Liverpool player has been told to accept a peripheral role.

What is also funny about the Luxemburgo player selection system is why the out of form Raul was never questioned as a first team choice along with the overweight Ronaldo. On the one hand, we have Madrid’s favorite son, Raul, so benching him would have produced politics. So Luxemburgo chose to play politics instead. At most clubs Owen would have replaced an out of form striker.

Ronaldo over Owen? Owen played much better when Ronaldo was injured. Madrid played better. Coach notice? No.

So Figo, Owen and now Guti are being mismanaged.

"If Guti said he didn't like it here and was going to go and find another club he should have gone. But as he is here it is because he didn't find another team and he should appreciate the work." -Luxemburgo

Plenty of clubs were interested in Guti.

This is the worst Madrid coach I have seen in a very long time.

I'm also a Real Madrid fan and agree Ronaldo should play ahead of Owen. I will say both players missed some great chance last season but with Ronaldo's form towards the end of the season he came out on top. And I'm sure he will score more than 30 goal this season. Figo should of lost his place 2 seaons ago. He's slow now, so when he goes to put a cross in he has to use skill and not pace so by the time he puts the cross in all the opositon have had time to get their defenders in the box and organised. Luxenbergo is doing a great job. He's put Raul behind Ronaldo (playmaker position) like when Cappello put him behind Suker and that season was one of the best seasons I think Raul has had. Raul's form was great towards the end of last season and I think he will have a good season this time..

First of all, it's LuxeMburgo.

Second, Ronaldo and Raul were both playing crap last season. And if I hear someone say Fat Ronny will score 30 goals in 30 matches next season ( oh yeah, he will be injured for about 8 matches ), then I will laugh at that. Owen scored six goals in eight matches, Real won 6-1 against Albacete, and, under the impulse of Michael Owen, Raul scored three times. Heck, Owen should've played the lone striker role. I sincerely hope that Raul's career isn't already over ( I mean, he was great 2 seasons ago, but now... ), because, if he wants, he can be a great player.

Ronaldo, on the other hand, has no future in professional football. I say sell him, and buy a striker à la Eto'o ( they had him ) or Anelka ( they had him ).

Figo is slow, yeah, what do you expect from a 32 - year old? Ryan Giggs hasn't got his pace any more now, too, you know. Figo should leave, anyhow, since a player of his calibre should play when he can. Obviously, Wanderlei Luxemburgo, a coach without common sense in football ( play Beckham as a defensive midfielder? Wtf? ), won't give him that chance. I mean, he has already bought shin - breakers like Pablo Garcia. He should buy someone like Fabregas, but Luxemburgo hasn't got skills like Wenger.

Samuel,

I couldnt agree more. Madrid played so much better with Owen.

The problem is Madrid is mired in politics and so is its coach. He plays the politically correct player.

The only interesting thing I saw Luxemburgo do is play that diamond formation with Gravesen as def midfield, Figo at diamond point, and with Zidane and #23 on the wings. They looked good in that formation.

But again, bad coaching, he changed it, in fact, I think that 6-1 win also came during that time when they used the diamond.

In the press Ronaldo gets a lot of unfair stick and you get people who don't actually know anything about football agree with them. Lets have a look a most of these commentators, there mostly failed football managers and old players coming towards the end who bearly have an international cap. When watching a game they favour certain players so much. Lets have a look at their golden boy Alan Shearer. Most of his goals are scored at St. James park, wonder why? He plays most of the time unfairly with his elbows and dives (spurs lost in FA cup last season from a free kick from one of his dives). As he's at home he wins most of the free kicks due to crowd pressure on the ref.

Taking nothing away from Owen but how many of Owens goals last season were actually good goals. Most of them were tap ins, his best was against Barca and the keeper wasn't far off from saving it. Ronaldo didn't have a very good start to the season but towards the end he had a better shot goal ratio than Owen had all season.

The Ronaldo fat jibe is starting to get boring. An average footballers % fat is between 10 and 13% and Ronaldo meets that. If Ronaldo came available Chelsea and Man U wouldn't say no and I think they know more than most of the commentators and armchair fans. For your information Ronaldo scored nearly 30 goals last season after a bad first half and where were all these injuries people are talking about, he may of been missing 4/5 games (averge amount)

"

That is because he was fitter towards the end of the season.

If Ronaldo came available, Chelsea and Man U wouldn't say no, because of financial reasons.

Ronaldo is known all over the world, and he is immensely popular in the East - not as popular as Beckham, but still. How many shirts would Ronaldo sell a year?

Do goals have to be good goals? I don't think so. If you win 3-0, and all of those goals were diverted by a defender's foot, who of the winning side would care?

Ronaldo hasn't got the speed anymore of his PSV and Inter period, but then again, he's had bad luck with several injuries. He WAS one of the best players in the world, but he's well past his prime now.

You're actually giving Alan Shearer, a legend, stick? I can't believe it. I think Shearer is one of the best strikers of the last decennium, hands down.

Forlan scored 25 goals last season, and he was top scorer in the Primera Division. So Ronaldo got less than 25 goals, which I hardly call " almost 30 '.

In all competitons Ronaldo hit nearly 30 goals. Why would you say Ronaldo was fitter, Owen seemed to do well on the England USA tour.

Ronaldo's lost his pace...I don't think so, I'm seem to remember him last season scoring a goal when he out a ran a mid-20 year old defender he was behind and then still went around the keeper.

Shearer is one of the best strikers of the last decennium... don't make me laugh. He's bearly known throughout Europe and in the next 20 years in England not many people will even remember who he even played for.

Henry scored 30 goals in the Prem in the 2003/2004 season. But we all know Henry is a thousand times better than Ronaldo.

Wow, he outran a defender? And how many times did he do that? Once. Come on, even Dellas can outrun Douala at least once a season.

Shearer is close to nearing Milburn's record of most goals for Newcastle. Let's talk when Ronaldo's 34, and let's see if he has scored as much goals as Di Stefano or Puskas.

And, before you say that Milburn sucks, Milburn has got a statue just outside St. James' Park. I don't think Ronaldo'll get a statue outside the Bernabeu.

Oh yeah, I read yesterday that Real want to swap Ronaldo ( + cash ! ) for Adriano. Nice.

Ronaldo won't have a statue outside the Bernabeu as Real Madrid have had so many world class players throughout the years, where you get Newcastle who haven't even had quater the players Real have had.

I like the comment 'Henry scored 30 goals in the Prem in the 2003/2004 season. But we all know Henry is a thousand times better than Ronaldo'. The 2003/2004 season I believe Ronaldo scored more than 30 goals in la liga. How come you didn't use last season then. Henry's a better player than Ronaldo, its a bit strange how Ronaldo has far more club and international goals.

Real want to swap Ronaldo for Adriano. Do you believe everything the papers say. Real want Newcastle to become their feeder club. See it's very easy to start romours when most of them come from web pages like these.

If Adriano came to the club they would want him to partner Ronaldo.

Wow, that would be nice. ANOTHER striker.

I mean, they have only got Raùl, Owen, Ronaldo and - probably - Robinho. No no, they would all play.

Well, lookie here:

2003-2004 Real Madrid 32 games 24 goals

Yes, I believe the rumours if SkySports spread them.

Even Puskas and Di Stefano haven't got a statue outside the Bernabeu, because they have no money to build a statue - they are € 500 million in the red. Just keep on buying, Wanderlei

Of course Ronaldo has gotten more goals than Henry! Henry was a winger until he was 23. Now, you DO know wingers score less goals than strikers, do you?

Samuel -

I've said before, Henry is the best striker in the world at the moment. (has been for 2 years)

Nothing kills a club faster than losing and debt. Winning just covers it.

Madrid seem like they are getting the itch for change, I have no clue when the next election is. What will happen next time around when the top politico doesnt have Figo or $ for another galactico.

I know for a fact that Real Madrid are NOT in any debt. They sold the training ground about 4 years back which cleared the debt and have made a profit every season since then. I thought that anyone who knows anything about football would know this.

Henry played on the wing for Juventus and early days for Arsenal, he was always a striker for Monaco.

I checked it out, you are correct. At the moment Madrid are not in debt.

Who could blame SZ for being wrong, they will probably be in debt again pretty soon.

Real Madrid sre no where near to going in debt. With them owning 50% of every players commercial rights, the money just from Beckham pays for his own, Zidane and Raul's wages. Real Madrid are also building their own theme park and also have the biggest sports brand in the world.

I won't be losing any sleep as I think Real Madrid's finaces are very secure.
