Ferguson dreaming

Alex Ferguson thinks his Manchester United squad is equal to Chelsea.

He’s dreaming. Let’s begin at the top: Jose Mourinho has out-coached Alex Ferguson virtually every time they have played each other. And that includes FC Porto where Mourinho had a fraction of the Manchester United transfer kitty.

2 years ago Arsenal went through a whole season unbeaten. Last season Chelsea only lost one game and are still hungry. To these grim facts, Ferguson replies:

“The bar might have been raised but there is still nothing between our side and Chelsea’s”

Alex Ferguson has a good team, no doubt. But Chelsea have a better and deeper back four, an equal but deeper midfield and 2 better goalkeepers. Manchester United has the best striker on both teams in Wayne Rooney but Chelsea have the best player in Arjan Robben. Over a season this adds up.

Arsenal, now minus Vieira, are going to find it even rougher going this season, but Manchester United have the storm cloud Glazer to contend with and that’s worth -5 points at least.

He's not an idiot, Chelsea have a far deeper squad the Man U. The purchase of Park Ji Sung hasnt added anything to Man U. I think that it was merely a way of getting asians to buy more man U shirts, Park Ji Sung is far too weak to play premiership football. Put simply hes not going to be able to adapt to the physical nature of the premiership. What a waste of money. Speaking of waste of money, how much did Chelsea pay for Drogba again? £24m, truly pathetic...

Manchester Unite are equal with chelsea in a couple of departments actually.

Keepers
VDS and Howard
V
Czeh and Cudicini
2-1 chelsea

Defence - Neville-Rio-Silvestre-Heinze
Backed up by-
P Neville-Brown-O'Shea-Pique

Ferriera-Carvalho-Terry- Del Nero
Backed up by-
Johnson-Huth-Gallas-Bridge
2-2 draw

Midfield-

Ronaldo-Keane-Scholes-Park
Fletcher-Smith-Rooney-Giggs

SWP-Lampard-Smertin-Robben
Duff-Makelele-Gudjohnsen-Cole
2-2 draw

Up Front-

RVN-SAHA-ROONEY-SOLKSJAER-ROSSI

DROGBA-CRESPO-C COLE

2-1 UTD.

So the teams are in fact very very close, and it will all depend on who makes the better start and who gets the consistancy in their game and keeps it.

ALL TO PLAY FOR IN MY OPINION.

Erm.sorry arsenal!

They are equal when you add Rooney to your midfield + up front list.

Then leave out Tiago, adding EG to midfield to compare strikers without him. Know any good card tricks?

The goalkeeper? In your terms, I think that VDS = CC (even) and PC = Tim Howard (PC +2), so its Chelsea 3-1 actually.

Maybe Man United can be good but they seem to have an incredible talent for not scoring goals. They seem menacing but don't score. Saw them today against some Hong Kong team and they seemed determine to kill as many people behind the net as possible with awry shots.

Anyway, there's no way that Neville-Rio-Sylvestre-Heinze is equal to Ferreira-Carvalho-Terry-Del Horno. Rio-Heinze match Terry-Ferreira but Neville-Sylvestre are not the same level as Carvalho-Del Horno.

Keeper is obviously Chelsea.

Midfield and strikers, maybe it's a draw for you but then you tell me why Chelsea scored thirty-forty more goals than Man United last year. Mourinho has a clear plan for his midfield and strikers and they do what he wants and it works. What's Fergie's plan? It sure as hell doesn't work.

Plus, don't forget Liverpool. I wouldn't be suprised to see them crack the top three this year, even the top two. Thirty seven points is a lot to make up in one season, but they've added some good players and won't have the whole first team out for two months like they did at the start of last year.

And as for Arsenal, I don't know how we match up player for player, but I get the feeling we'll be right up there once again. We'll sure as hell score more goals than Man United. Hopefully we will remember to defend this time, and I get the feeling Vieira leaving won't hurt in that regard.

If anybody wants to argue it, this is probably Arsenal's basic first team next year, probably with an extra keeper and an extra striler to be determined.

Lehman
Almunia

Lauren-Toure-Campbell-Cole
Toure-Senderos-Campbell-Clichy

Ljungberg-Hleb-Gilberto-Reyes
Hleb-Fabregas-Flamini-Pires

Henry-Van Persie
Bergkamp-Reyes

As far as I'm concerned, midfield is pretty solid, so is the defense, both the front men and the backups. There is a lack of depth on the striker front, and lack of a decent cover for Lehman in goal. We are more vulnerable to injury than Chelsea but then who isn't?

How many players from manchester united would get into the Chelsea starting 11 ? I say maybe one (Roony or RVN, but not both at the same time).

From arsenal ? maybe 2 (Henry and Cole).

Chelsea's second 11 is possibly the best ever assembled anywhere.
