Could van Nistelrooy be moving?

I’m at a loss to understand why any team would be linked with a player that is so often injured.

Ruud van Nistelrooy has to have set a record of some kind for missing games. AC Milan appear interested, and willing to offer Danish international Jon Dahl Tomasson. Tomasson is a fantastic player who deserves a starting role in a top team.

For their prices, I'd rather have Tomasson than van Nistelrooy as a rugged player is better than an often injured player who scores goals when fit. As Man U are now stinkers because some guy owns 98% of the shares, it’s too bad.

But I digress; Chelsea could be pondering a swoop due to their unsuccessful attempts at getting an expensive, I mean top, striker. At Chelsea, van Nistelrooy would at least be shielded by their depth.

Real Madrid were linked, and could be more serious since they seem to be losing out to Arsenal at the moment for Robinho. Also in Spain, van Nistelrooy's agent has apparently been taking in the Barcelona weather and pitching him to FC.

Could be interesting, but why anyone would bid above 10m euros is beyond me.

I guess Van Nistelrooy's goal record speaks for itself...

Over his entire professional career he's averaged more than a goal for every two games he's played.

Whilst at Man Utd he's done even better than that.

And as far as I'm concerned he's only had one major injury whilst he's been at Man Utd.

Please don't go Ruud

You know, your comments are really better off reserved for your own diary rather than airing them in a blog site. I would have chose to ignore ur blog but I can't help having a go at you. Go back to your American Superbowl if you really don't understand how important Mr Ruud is to United.

Nobody, except for these inane comments has defended their positions.

All you guys can say is that he is "important" -so what? He is always injured.

Ruud may be important to United, in your eyes, but in mine he is innefective because he is always injured.

Its easy to take pot-shots about super-bowls but you really say very litte.

23 goals in the premiership in the 2001/02 season; 25 in 02/03; 20 in 03/04. Top goalscorer in three of four Champions League seasons, including the injury-ravaged 04/05.

He only played 17 games this season and for me 2002 was the only season in which he's really performed.

RvN has ability, I've agreed on that. What I dont think he has is value for money when you consider how many games he misses.

You've got to be one of the greatest marksmen in the world if you're "always" injured and still manage RvN's record!

I'm all for constructive comments and have a bit of sympathy for anyone who receives such ridicule for their opinions, but you deserve it pal!

People have been good enough to take the time to post his achievements in terms of goals and value but you just seem intent on ignoring this.

We can see from his time at PSV and Manchester United that he has performed at an unbelievably high level.

The 2004/05 season was disappointing but not before bagging a hatful of goals again in the Champions League. He then picked up an injury to his calf which worked it's way down to his achilles through playing on (reportedly for Holland on international duty) whilst carrying the injury.

Thank God we still have guys like that however misguided trying to play through the pain barrier may, with hindsight, be! It puts to shame many of today’s highly paid footballers who are looking for reasons not to play!

But even taking into account his absence last season, where on earth do you get the idea that Ruud has missed so many games?

Before and since Ruud joined United in 2001 the likes of Beckham, Wes Brown, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Roy Keane, Ryan Giggs, Kleberson, Saha, - I could go on couldn't I? -have all had more than one extended period out for injury.

No one doubts the value of the likes of Keane, Scholes and Giggs. At Ruuds age they would also have commanded huge transfer fees. Beckham is not labelled as injury prone even after his foot episode at United and an initial disastrous season at Madrid. Arsenal have also had injuries to key players last season but could we question any value Arsenal wished to put on Henry?

Labelling Ruud as injury prone or questioning his worth either in terms of money or contribution to Manchester United is not something any football fan from any club is going to side with you on. It is just too ridiculous for even opposing fans to jump on. It is typical of a style of tabloid journalism that you, seemingly, have been reading far too much of.

Making controversial comments is not always the same as making stupid ones. That is something you need to understand.

RVN has had more than one extended period of injury.

In addition to that he is always in the press nursing an injury during the week. RVN is brittle.

Man U supporters are cheering for a brittle player and a ghost-club.

...

I dont know what your on about with the tabloids.

Oh come on!!! Any player breaking scoring records at the weekend, and then doing the same on a Wednesday or Thursday evening in the Champions league (and not just for one season but almost every), is not nursing injuries during the week!!

This article is dead in the water. The fact that you keep trying with it is ungracious and totally unfair on Mr. Nistelrooy.

By the way I was not implying that you are in any way connected with a tabloid publication, I am implying that your style and approach to this subject contain many of the groundless and provocative aspects one can observe in modern 'headlines for the masses' journalism. In short, rather 'brittle'

Here is a quote:

"
Man Utd striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has been looking for a move - but neither Barcelona, Real Madrid nor AC Milan were interested in the 29-year-old.
"

Hmmm... no interest. I wonder why.
