Pires era ending

It looks like Arsenal winger Robert Pires is destined to leave the club for another league.

Galatasaray, from the Turkish league, are apparently interested but Arsenal say they have not heard anything. All that exists are a few newspaper quotes from Galatasaray officials.

Juventus have made confirmed contact with Arsenal over signing Pires. Juventus have been in the news a lot lately as they also want to sign fellow Frenchman Partick Vieira. I doubt that will happen. They could probably buy Pires pretty easily from Arsenal as we saw his chances diminish a lot last season. He brings goals but he has slowed down a lot.

Belarus international midfielder Alexander Hleb’s arrival at Arsenal has made his chances for matches even fewer now.

Arsenal don’t want to budge from their single year contract offer. Pires wants a longer term deal and at age 31 I don’t blame him, I’d want to sign a longer deal too.

Wasnt Pires the 5th 6th highest goal scorer in the EPL last season? Where are his goals going to come from if he's off? We should keep him until Reyes improves!

After Henry and Andy Johnson, Robert Pires was the top scorer in the EPL indeed. We shouldn't let him go. Hell no!!!

Yep. He was third highest goalscorer.

Although its pretty clear he's not been playing at his best, has he?

I kind of agree, I wouldnt want to make too many moves either.

Even in a limited role he'd bring in 8 or so very useful goals in a season.

As a sub he'd also get compensation from other players tired legs so it wouldnt show so much.

I dont think he's said he wants to leave, has he? So, if he's ok with a limited role but wants a longer deal -why not?

**yawn**

Pires scored 17 last season, was 3rd top scorer in The Prem. Yeh, only beaten by Henry and a bloke who scored 9 penalties!
But Pires is past it? bollocks!

He scored more than Defoe, Rooney, Drogba, Lampard, Horsefacec*nt, etc etc etc

He is one of the best finshers at the club, if not THE best. His goals to chances ratio is better than Henry's.

So a left midfielder who scores 15+ a season and creates as many? Find me someone else who does it? You cant.

Pires will sign a new deal leaving TWO years left on his contract. The at the end of next season they will discuss another EXTENSION.

Pires wont leave becuase he is one of our key players. 73 goals in 5 seasons not enough for you lot? jeez!

Pires is a fucking legend

i agree. pires cant go. wenger would be mad to let that happen. and gala? theres no way bobbys going to the portuguese league.
another thing i dont understand is, we have fought so hard and long to keep viera for the last couple of years, and now we WANT to sit down with juve to discuss a transfer? that makes us look f$cking stupid. wenger said it himself, no way we can outspend chelski, we have to outsmart them. why give up our captain? for what? baptista now doesnt want to leave spain.

Pires is class. What's that about him having slowed down? He scores regularly and still is a hell of a player.
I don't think we should sell him, that applies for PV as well.

He's still a great player, even if he isn't as quick as he once was.
So he likely won't be starting games against ManUre/Chelski etc... I can't think of a better player to come off the bench and change a match. He also runs rings around the 'lesser' Prem teams.
