Arsenal to buy problem solving midfielder

Belarus international midfielder Alexander Hleb looks set for a stint at Arsenal beginning next season.

Oddly enough new coach Giovanni Trapattoni, fresh from winning the Portuguese league, looks to be the facilitator, as he has stated that the player could leave if he wished.

The two-footed midfielder joined Stuttgart in 2000 and has been noted for his ability to play anywhere in midfield.

Hleb is a hugely talented player which will easily fit into the team. He was a large part of success Stuttgart have shown in recent seasons, and losing him will be a huge blow to their team. He is remarkably consistent, at a remarkably high level.

Arsenal have certainly made a swoop. This is a great replacement for Edu, in fact an even better player.

He is brilliant, he can control a match, he reminds me alot of Zoltan Gera, but I think he is even better.

I hear he's not scored so many goals, but has assisted many goals for his German club. I'm just wondering how he assisted the goal-scorers.

My reason being that it'd be great to have a player with such great field vision, to pick out players inside the box, but if they were crosses in for headers.... well, I'm guessing we'll see his assist totals drop next season.

I hear great things though and still remain optimistic!!! Besides, for the most part, Wenger doesn't disappoint in these situations

Hleb is a real talent but he is NOT a replacement for Edu. He plays in a position which Edu never occupied - wide right - and one which has been a real problem of late for us

Where he'll play for Arsenal is anyone's guess, but for Stuttgart he plays WIDE LEFT, not wide right.

If you don't know, don't guess... just makes you look stupid.

Emre's agent has been trying to engineer his client a move to Arsenal for a couple of seasons now. That we haven't signed him suggests that Arsene clearly is not interested. Besides, how would an Inter bench-warmer get in our starting 11?

Remember Viera was a reserve player in Inter. Henry was a bench warmer in Juventus. So u can't tell Hleb can't get into Arsenal starting XI because he was a benchwarmer in Inter

The point of the article was that he can play any position in midfield, he is a 2 footed player and has good defensive characteristics. I would try him in central Midfield.

I also hear Hleb has a younger brother Viachaslau.

I was refering to EMRE, (not Hleb)who is not a teenage reserve player at Inter as Vieira was at Milan, nor is he a 21/22 year old bench warmer at Juve like Henry was.
Emre is an almost 26 year old experienced international who couldn't get into a very average Inter side.

'Good defensive characteristics, I would try him in central midfield'.

We obviously have differing ideas on what constitutes good defensive characteristics. Next you'll be saying Gilberto is a natural winger!

Arsenal finally have funds to buy players.Hleb is a good start but what we need most is a dominant, proven forward with prescence in the box. Julio Baptista would be a great purchase but I fear Wenger, as usual, doesnt want to spend money and we are getting Adebayor. It will take a miracle to overhaul Chelski at this rate
