Tottenham fail in pull wool over Birmingham eyes

Birmingham will almost certainly not be signing Egyptian international striker Mido from Tottenham. If I were a Birmingham supporter, I would be breathing a sigh of relief. If I were a Tottenham fan, I would be cursing the alignment of the planets for scuppering a perfectly good plan to dump off a dead weight player to an unsuspecting club.

Actually, you can curse Mido, whose arrogance has no boundaries. His wage demands are beyond Birmingham's budget. No deal unless he lowers his opinion of himself and takes less money.

No such problems signing 25 year old Hossam Ghaly.

Bruce tried to sign Mido on loan, but Tottenham want a permanent deal -Darren Bent being really expensive and all.

When a player like Mido, who has fallen out at every club he has played at, makes unrealistic demands of a newly promoted club, it’s a sign he belongs in the scrap heap.

Birmingham should be thanking Mido for being arrogant and demanding, save them the trouble of the inevitable fall-out with the manager and selling him to some unsuspecting club for 1m at a 5m pound loss.

At this point, if I were Tottenham, I would ship him off on loan.

I would even consider spurs paying half his wages for a year to get rid of him on a £6m deal

He must be insured. I know this fella who can make accidents happen ...

Why do people like you continue to peddle such made up tripe? It's been said by Steve Bruce himself that wages aren't the issue.

People are quick to forget that with Mido playing most games in his first full season Spurs nearly finished 4th. He scored goals and got many assists i think 2nd only to Carrick.

The other 4 are all better but Mido is a great player too. He needs to stay fit though. Everytime he had a decent game last year he was injured for weeks after.

Tottenham also need a couple of decent midfielders to cover for Ghaly leaving.

Mido apparently wanted all the pies......Now I guess he will be back with all the bagels until we can find a blind, deaf, stupid manager to sign him

When fit he is class but he is seldom fit

I heard Birmingham offered him £15K per week for the first year rising to £25K the next depending on where they finished on a 4year contract. Mido is living in a dream world by expecting his £30K+ at a newly promoted team to the premiership! Maybe if he'd had a good previous season he might have some right to stand his ground, but being an unfit, overweight and underperforming lump last year you'd have thought he'd compromise....No doubt he'll be content to pick up his wages at Spurs and not make any attempt to actually play football week in week out

Cobblers, he's a decent player who fell down the pecking order and got stroppy. He'd be number 1 at Birmingham and is 1000% better than the dross they've got at the moment. If I were a Birmngham fan I'd be gutted.

Try thinking before printing something stupid. Talking tosh makes you look silly.

Yes, of course he can play. He's a decent player.

But he's got two major problems.

He can't stay fit, which is partly due to his weight fluctuations.

And his attitude is lousy. He's a stroppy bastard with an inflated idea of his talent.

We took a chance on him, and he let us down. I want him out. To be honest, I felt guilty about him going to Birmingham, which is a decent club with decent people associated with it.

And Mido will cause problems wherever he goes.

the article is spot on about what birmingham fans feel and probably what spurs feel too. so glad we didnt sign him, been ranting for weeks about this and good job it fell through just like ive been hoping it will do. i was actually resigned to having him but over the moon now. still like ghaly though

Human nature dictates that they are very anti Mido, but that apart, the vast majority of sensible Spurs opinion suggests that Mido is potentially a trouble maker, an egotist, and self deluded. If that is the case, then I pray that Bruce doesnt manage to turn the situation around. As for those who disparage the current Blues squad, isnt that what everybody did every season when Sam made new signings, Bolton still average higher placement in the league than Spurs. Prudency is more important and has a better record in the transfer market than meeting exaggerated prices. Watch Darren Bent closely, he may prove to be a case in point!.

As a Blues fan I was really looking forward to seeing Mido up front for us he looked class in his first year at Spurs. We all know he's a stroppy so n so but he would've added some much needed quality and power to our front line.

Not to worry its NOT our strikeforce that needs strengthening BUT our defence.
We have Jerome, McSheffrey, Kapo, O connor, Vine, Forsell and De Ridder that's 7 players who can play up front.

WE NEED DEFENDERS - ARE YOU LISTENING BRUCIE !!!!!!!

Ghaly is a decent buy though

Just when I thought we were getting rid of the greedy fucking leech...

I wish he'd do the honourable thing now and at least let us cash in his insurance by offing himself. A pile of salt should do it.

Oh yes, as a Birmingham fan I have not been this happy since we got promoted for the first time.
Thank-You Mido for being a stroppy tart. Maybe we can sign a player who has real quality i.e doesn't fall out with every manager he plays under!!!! YAKUBU ALL THE WAY!!!! Good luck Spurs for next season btw best London club by far. I always enjoy coming down to watch us getting beat by you :P.

Nugent - £7m
Richardson - £5.5m
Chopra - £5.5m
Kamara - £6m

Compared to them, Mido is a steal at £6m. He didn't have a great season last year, but you're not just paying for Premiership potential with him like the others....
