Greatest goal ever?

Too often when you judge something like the greatest goal ever things like nationalism, club allegiance and your favorite players get in the way. Not to mention you haven't seen every goal ever scored.

When Swedish international Juventus striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored this goal back when he was still with Ajax Amsterdam I thought it could have been the best goal I'd ever seen.

I uncovered this video of it the other day and the same thought came to my mind, “this could be the greatest goal ever”.

If you watch this goal in detail, notice he beats 5 players a total of 9 times. One poor guy got faked 3 times, another twice. Every fake was a virtuoso move. He even fakes the camera man out twice!

There are goals that are special because they have meaning but this one is special because if its sheer brilliance.

Best goal ever? If not, it’s up there.

  5. If you take away fluke long distance shots and dont count the players career you might have it.

  7. could be right but for me the audacity of gazza's goal against scotland in euro 96 leaves all else for dead. he just made it look easy !!!

  11. think people are gettin gcarried away here, the quality of the opposition must come into account. Don't think he'd have done that against Nesta, Thuram, Maldini or Gabbidon....

  15. Not bad. But Andy Parkinson's goal for Grimsby against Yeovil last season just about shades it.

  17. Gotta agree with the comment above - no doubt it's a great goal but you have to worry about the quality of the defending.

  18. yep, a very good goal. but which team was he playing against? is it a quality side?

  19. It´s against Breda, a not very good team in Holland, some people say that the defence of England in 86 was extremely slow, would Maradona had pulled that one off against Thuram, Nesta...

One of my favourite goals is of course van Bastens bicycle kick against Den Bosch (a not very strong team)

  20. Poor first touch. Cant be the best ever goal if it has a basic error like that.

    Dismal defending.

  21. Very similar to that goal by Jogoo in the 1904 all africa games in Kampala.

  22. Almost as good as Goldinho's goal when he ran circles around raval and patel and stuffed past biryani bhais right hand post in the 2005 World cup of Goals

  26. The thing is, his team was winning 4/1 and it was against nac breda... It's an unbelievable goal - i can't stop watching it, each times he fakes me too -, but it has no real incidence at all... Maradona's goal against England had an incidence, and it wasn't against a poor dutch team.

  27. Absolutely brilliant.
What makes the goal even better is that last touch... He could've just scored with his right, but choses to do the defender (once more) and the keeper before putting it in the net. Amazing.

Still agree wtih some of the other comments, the defence ain't exactly world class. But still...
